As a company it was important for us to take some time this last week to reflect, listen, learn and talk about the state of our world. What actions can we all take to enact the necessary changes so badly needed in our society.
We are living through some extremely difficult times right now and we are all struggling with how to move forward from here. Lynnae and I personally feel that we are at a pivotal moment in time and we all have a great opportunity and responsibility to make real change for the future. We also feel that this really does start at home and with the conversations we have with our kids. Whether it is about how we treat each other and the fact that we should all be treated equally in this world & that it should never be acceptable to think any other way. Or how we treat our planet and the fact that if we choose not to take care of this wonderful world that we call home and all the beauty it encompasses, it simply won’t be here in the way that we want it for future generations.
As parents, it is our responsibility to teach our children through the actions we take and how we show up in this world; the actions we take to try to right the wrongs even when those things aren’t popular or easy. So if we all take the time to look at ourselves and ask the hard questions - Are we doing our very best for the world we live in? Are we treating each other equally? Are we taking the time to see the beauty and diversity of all the cultures that surround us? Is there something more we can do to make things better and "Be The Change"? If so, then now, like no other is the time to do so.
We are seeing so many aspects of negative human behavior and the affects of those actions but we are also witnessing so many wonderful examples of human kindness, people coming together and saying enough is enough, this is how we will see real change. As a company we will be donating 10% of all sales as part of our business model from now on to causes that need to be addressed. At this time during the two major crises that we are currently living through, we will be donating to feeding America and NAACP. We have so much faith that through these difficult times we will see progression towards better humanitarian and environmental behaviors, be able to move forward together with a greater respect and love for each other and this planet that we all call home.
In the words of Martin Luther King JR. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." That is how we will successfully move together towards a better society.
All the best!
